· Wrapper – Connecticut Shade (Honduras)
· Binder – Cubano (Honduras)
· Filler – Long Cubano (Honduras)
My First Impression:
A very very pleasant surprise! You may have never heard of these guys before but they have been in the cigar retail business for over 90 years. Nat Sherman is a boutique cigar retailer in the ultra posh neighborhood of Manhattans 5th ave district. The one and only location is on 5th Ave and 42nd street and are neighbors with the Plaza Hotel (now condos) as well as Tiffany and Co. The history on these guys is long, one of the rumors is that the Nat Sherman cigar shop was a safe neutral meeting spot for New York’s elite crime bosses. Now to the cigar – when you first put his gem in your hand you will notice its flawless Connecticut Shade wrapper; smooth, silky, and smells like honey. You will notice from the very beginning that the cigar has a sweet taste – I think this is from the wax on the cap and wrapper. This cigar is mellow, smooth and sophisticated. Honestly I don’t smoke very many Claro’s however I might start. This cigar will not leave you with a buzz like the many popular Maduro’s and Osuro’s but it sure is elegant. The aroma of the cigar is sweet and enjoyable. This cigar is rolled with care and never required a relight nor did the wrapper run. In the end and you are going to think I am crazy but this cigar reminded me of a Cohiba Siglo II La Linea 1492 which is a $25 stick!
· Where I smoked? Brooks back porch – last smoke for him L
· What I drank? Beer – Corona
Recommendation:
This cigar is awesome and I will be smoking many more of these. Cigar International is now distributing as well as Cigarnow.com – both retailers have these guys on sale for under $70 a box (25 to a box). At three dollars a stick you can afford to give one to your father-in-law, even if he doesn’t smoke he will like this. To me the experience was elegant and brought back the yesteryear of cigars – when men wore suits and sipped Remy Martin XO Cognac.
The Pro’s Comments:
Nat Sherman Host Hamilton Cigars The host selection is not what you would expect from a traditional Honduran cigar. Its Connecticut shade wrapper is matched with "Cubano" blend fillers, resulting in a uniquely smooth, sweet tasting & surprisingly mature smoke that also produces an earthy and hearty palate with distinctive mild to medium body in flavor Earthy, Hearty Palate: Zesty, Molasses, Sweet, Finish: Mild, Medium Body.
